それから前回のブログのManitowocについて。 Manitowocはアメリカの地名です。 位置としてはシカゴからミシガン湖畔を北上し、ミルウォーキーを通過しその更に北「Sheboygan」と「Green Bay」の間に位置する街です。 歌詞にあるように面白い歴史を持った街です。 昔、インディアンが良い魂の宿る場所として“Mundeowk”と呼んだのが 始まりで、今の「Manitowoc」になっています。 その後フランスの猟師たちがその場所を1673年に見つけて住み着き、ヨーロッパから多くの人が永住の地を求めて移住してきました。 いつの世も同じですが歴史はその輝かしい部分がクローズアップされます。そこには多くの涙を流した人たちがたくさんいました（冬には-15度にもなる寒い場所です）。彼等の涙や努力がなくては今のManitowocはありません。そしてその証として彼等の魂が今も息づいています。バドワイザービールが始めて作られたのもこの街だと聞いています。 なぜ、サビの部分でPut your name on to someone's two hearts. （誰かの二つの心に名前を残しなさい）と書いたかについて いくらかの人から質問を受けました。 前述のとおり、歴史に残された輝かしい部分と、そのために 涙を流した人。物事には必ず二つの側面があります。 光と影、始まりと終わり、真実と嘘、縦と横、等々。だから魂を残すためには「二つの心に名前を残す」事が必要である。と書いてみました。

新曲なのだ Manitowoc. へヴィーメタルの巻き。<br />Tak composed new song called Manitowoc.先日アメリカの友人から郵便が届いた。封筒を開けてびっくり、音楽雑誌「ロックスター」の表紙にTakが・・・？この友人はキーボードがメインのロックが好きな人で、私の音楽にキーボードが入ってないと文句を言う。「よせよギタリストだぜ」（なぜか急にロックスターの口調だったりする）と思いながら、「オーケーいいさ」ってキーボードに向かっている今日この頃、皆様いかがお過ごしでしょうか。今回の曲はリニューアルしたスタジオでの初作品。タイトルはManitowoc. ・・・そんなこんなで、しょーも...日記Tak2007-09-28T23:09:44+09:00 先日アメリカの友人から郵便が届いた。 封筒を開けてびっくり、音楽雑誌「ロックスター」の表紙にTakが・・・？ この友人はキーボードがメインのロックが好きな人で、私の音楽にキーボードが入ってないと文句を言う。「よせよギタリストだぜ」（なぜか急にロックスターの口調だったりする）と思いながら、「オーケーいいさ」ってキーボードに向かっている今日この頃、皆様いかがお過ごしでしょうか。今回の曲はリニューアルしたスタジオでの初作品。タイトルはManitowoc. ・・・そんなこんなで、しょーもないキーボードのソロがあったりする。 肝心のギターは、Fenderの73-4Bと言う型番のストラトキャスター（1981年頃に新品で購入）でソロを弾きました。このギターはボディーがホワイトアッシュでラージヘッドなのに4点留めのちょっと珍しいストラトです（仕様としてはアニバーサリーモデルと同じ）。ピックアップをディマジオのFS-1に交換してあります。で、マクソンのTS-9からマーシャルへ接続しました。 バッキングのギターは2007年に発売が開始されたFender USA イングヴェイモデルのプロトタイプ。これはシリアルから2006年製で見事な木材を使った珍しいものです。日本での発売前にアメリカの楽器店から入手しました。バッキングの録音にはこのギターとKeeleyのKatana Clean Boostをつまみを引っ張らない状態（通常のブーストのみ）でマーシャルに接続。いたってシンプルです。今までベースギターの録音で悩んでいたのですが、今回LINE6 のBASS PODを入手し使用しました。評判が良いシュミレーターだけあって、良い結果になったような気がします。 ベースギターはウァッシュバーンのキップ・ウインガーモデルを使用しました。歌も歌ってみましたがキーが高くて苦労しました。では、Manitowoc, Play Loud!歌詞を下に残しておきます。
I have received postal mail from my friend who lives in USA. I was surprised by it because there is my picture on the cover of Rock Star magazine. The my friend also like Rock music which featuring keyboards. If I don't play keyboards, he complain to me because of that. Hey! I'm guitar player. But I trying to play keyboards anytime, anyway. What's up? This time I used my new studio as I explained it on last my blog. Title of the new music is "Manitowoc". You will find poor keyboard solo by this reason. I played guitar solo by Fender Stratocaster model #73-4B which I purchased them around '1981 as brand-new guitar. This guitar has white-ash as body material. And large head (late '60 style). The rare point is the neck was installed by 4 screws even if it's large head model. (It's same as Anniversary model of "1979, that I guess.) I replaced pick-up to Dimarzio FS-1 for neck and bridge position. Then, I connected it to TS-9 (Maxon), and to Marshall amp. I played backing guitar by latest Yngwie model which started to sell it in 2007 in Japan. But my Yngwie model is one of prototype that I think because of excellent wood material and SNR (made on 2006). I purchased it from music shop of America before Japanese shop started to sell them. I connected it to KATANA boost (By Keeley), and to Marshall amp. Yeah, it's really simple system. I was in trouble to record sound of bass guitar till now. I started to use BASS POD of LINE6 from this time. I guess that I could get good result by it. I used bass guitar of Washburn "Kip Winger" model. I tried to sing a song for this time too. They called the town as "home of the good spirit", because of there beautiful harbors and rivers. Manitowoc Lake side city, French trappers discovered in 1673. I imagine waltz music when I heard word of "Three beats". Three beats of cool music does not appear in so a lot of world, and I think that there is little famous music on Rock and Pops. There are many famous "Three beats" music in classic music. I put a music something like lullaby at this time. Song named [TOKYO]. Tokyo is a big city as you know. There are many people and they are working really hard even if bad guys. And the most of them are the simple people who came from the country side. The music of healing is necessary for Tokyo of now with much bad news. I did renewal my studio at hot end of summer season, by the way. I replaced recorder to ADAT which has 24 trucks. And I modified design of studio equipments (Rack system). I have to do my best to create cool music from now on too. The person who works. The person who quarrels. An ill person. The person who is troubled. The person who camps. [ Tokyo] For all people.

There were a lot of convenient effectors in various ways and got possible to enjoy really easily various sounds now. And there were not various kinds and was expensive in old days. It seems that we need experience and knowledge to create "cool sound" by these current effectors too. I tried some effectors during a performance this time. It is OC-2 (BOSS) which it used in the introduction to be the most impressive.We can use many kind of method at the recording. But we must change our mind when we play it at live stage. We should prepare "effector for live stage" to reproduce recorded sound. I have 2 sets of effector-rack for the live setting. I understand that I must not skip nothing mind to create sound as result of the blog. Song call "Milwaukee Exciting City".

ヘヴィメタルにも編曲は重要だったりする。の巻き。How important arrangement to Heavy Metal music too.今日は編曲が音楽にとっていかに重要であるかについての考察。せっかく良いメロディーを思い付いても、それをどのように表現するかで音楽は凄く変わりますよね。メインとなるメロディー（テーマ）を思い付いた時にどんな演奏にするかイメージできれば完成した音楽もかっこ良くなるように思います。ところが、あれもこれもかっこ良く決まると思ってしまう瞬間もあるでしょう。今回は前回貼った音楽（もう一度チェックしてみて下さい）のクラシカルな部分のアルペジオを違う編曲で表現したらどうなるのかなっていうちょ...日記Tak2007-07-29T17:46:20+09:00 今日は編曲が音楽にとっていかに重要であるかについての考察。 せっかく良いメロディーを思い付いても、それをどのように表現するかで音楽は凄く変わりますよね。メインとなるメロディー（テーマ）を思い付いた時にどんな演奏にするかイメージできれば完成した音楽もかっこ良くなるように思います。ところが、あれもこれもかっこ良く決まると思ってしまう瞬間もあるでしょう。今回は前回貼った音楽（もう一度チェックしてみて下さい）のクラシカルな部分のアルペジオを違う編曲で表現したらどうなるのかなっていうちょっと面白い実験をしてみました。これを試している最中に異なる編曲のおかげで前回のソロとは異なるメロディーが浮かんだので途中からはそれを弾いてみました。つまり、編曲次第で曲に関するアイディアの浮かび方も異なってくるのでしょう。是非、是非今回の演奏（短いです）と前回の演奏（長いです）のソロを聞き比べて、編曲の面白さも実感して頂きたいと思います。この演奏ではギター以外はストリングス系の音で、「ウラメロ」や「カウンターポイント」（オブリガート）ばかりの演奏ですので、クラシカルなアルペジオをギターで弾いた際、リズムに苦労しました。空きトラックにリズムを録音してギターを録音した後でリズムトラックを消去すれば良かった。・・・ほらね？いつも録音した後になって不満が湧いてくる。ビール飲んで寝ようっと。（未成年の方はジュースか牛乳でお願いします。）う～ん、なんて健全なロックミュージシャンなんだろう。 ところで、このブログにアクセスして下さる方の中でイングヴェイのセッティングについて知りたい方が多いようですので、少しだけ本当の「秘密」を教えてしまいましょう。彼がローランドのDC-10を使い続けている訳。雑誌やウエブなどで彼のセッティングを紹介しているものって結構ありますが、エフェクターのセッティングについては真実を伝えているものに出会っていません。彼はまずオーバードライブの前にDC-10を接続しているのです。普通空間系のエフェクターは後に繋ぐ事はご承知のとおりですが、彼の場合は逆です。なぜなら、DC-10で入力と出力のゲインをコントロールしているのです。彼が使っているディマジオのピックアップは比較的出力が小さいですがこの接続方法なら関係なくなってしまいます。お決まりの演出にも活躍しているDC-10ですが彼がこれを使い続けている本当の意味はここにあったんです（貼付の写真は例です）。自分の目で彼のステージセッティングをステージ上で見た（バックステージに入る機会があった）ので間違いないです。で、雑誌の写真等をよ～く、よ～く、見ると1984年以降いまだにその方法です。試してみては？
The consideration that how arrangement is important for music today. The music are really different by arrangement even if you compose a good melody with much effort. I think that the finished music becomes cool if I can image what kind of arrangement I make it when I composed a melody (a theme). However, we have time to be troubled about a method of the arrangement. I did a unique experiment to express the arpeggio of a classical part of the last music (check it out once again) in different arrangement this time. (You will find the classical arpeggio on the solo part of my latest blog.) When I tried this, a new melody came to me by this arrangement. The latter half of this music is the new melody. In other words the ideas about the music are different by arrangement, too. Please compare the solo of the last performance (long) with this performance (short). And please realize fun of the arrangement. I had a hard time in rhythm, when I played the classical arpeggio with a guitar (because background was a sound of strings performance, and it was "root", "counter point" and "obligato"). [ After that I found another method. I should have rhythm in other truck. after I recorded my guitar then I should have deleted a rhythm truck. ] At any rate. I understand failure after having always taped it. I drink beer and sleep. ha ha ha....... （The person of the minority is juice or milk.） What a intelligent rock musician am I! By the way, there seems to be much one that wants to know setting of Yngwie Malmsteen among people accessing this blog. I teach a slightly true "secret". The reason why he continues using DC -10 of Roland for. Many magazines or Web introduce his setting. However, I did not watch the thing which conveyed the truth about the setting of the effector. He connects DC -10 before OverDrive. As you know, the effector of "ambient" will connect it after generally, but is reverse in the case of him. Because he control input and a gain of the output with DC -10. The pickup of Dimarzio has a small output, but this connection method can control a gain to the OverDrive freely. It is DC -10 playing an active part for tricky sound effects, but there is the true reason why he continues using this. I'm sure, because I saw his setting on the stage (there was an opportunity to enter the backstage). Please check some magazine or photo of his setting. (Attached photo is an example.) You can confirm my explanation by them. He have not changed this point on his setting from 1984. Try if you want.

クラシカルな早弾きなのだ。へヴィーメタルの巻き。 Tak played a heavy metal song which includes first classical arpeggio.今日は我が家の録音機材を紹介しつつ、ちょっと前に作曲して録音した音源を貼ってみたいと思います。多くの曲はギターを弾きながら主旋律が浮かんできた時に、その他のパートの演奏もイメージします。たまにキーボードでそのような作業をする事もありますが、キーボードはあまり上手くないので主に音色によってインスピレーションを得る事が多いです。ギターの6本の弦は音の隔たり方に（手によって押さえる事ができる範囲）に限界があるので、いわゆる「手癖」が出やすいです。その観点から「キーボードのほうがバラ...日記Tak2007-07-22T00:09:05+09:00今日は我が家の録音機材を紹介しつつ、ちょっと前に作曲して録音した音源を貼ってみたいと思います。多くの曲はギターを弾きながら主旋律が浮かんできた時に、その他のパートの演奏もイメージします。たまにキーボードでそのような作業をする事もありますが、キーボードはあまり上手くないので主に音色によってインスピレーションを得る事が多いです。ギターの6本の弦は音の隔たり方に（手によって押さえる事ができる範囲）に限界があるので、いわゆる「手癖」が出やすいです。その観点から「キーボードのほうがバラエティに富んだ曲作りができるんだろうなぁ」と思いつつ（練習が嫌いなので）「手癖に独特の味があるんだ！」と自分で言い訳をしてみたりする。で、リッチーブラックモア先生のインタビューでも同じ事を言っておられましたが、ここから大嫌いな道のりが始まります。大体の曲の感じができたら各楽器のアレンジを明確にする為にラフな録音をしたり、そうでない時は譜面に起こしたりします。その後、まずはドラムです。ドラムは普段ドラムマシン(ZOOM)を使います。 音符でドラムを打ち込むのは地味で時として曲のフィーリングを失ってしまうので、リアルタイムで打ち込みます。ドラムはキーボードと同期するようにMIDIで接続してキーボードのシーケンサーによって発音させます。これが完成したら、次は必要なキーボード(KORG)を打ち込みます。 これでキーボードとドラムが一緒に音を出す事ができます。ドラムマシンは4つのアウトプットをフルに使って、1トラックにバスドラム、2トラックにスネアドラム、3トラックと4トラックにタムとシンバルを左右（ステレオ）に振り分けた状態でミキサーに送ります。キーボードも4つのアウトプットがありますがこれは曲によって使い方を分けます。これで、1から8トラックを使ってドラムとキーボードをMTR（曲によって使うMTRを選びます）に録音します。ここまでが非常に退屈で根気の要る作業です。次は9トラック目にベースギターの録音です。ここからは大好きな弦楽器の演奏であり、曲の完成が見え始めるので楽しくなってきます。本当にごく最近までベースは鳴っていれば良いと思っていましたが、ベースギターの音作りは本当に大変で、最終的な曲の仕上がりに影響します。最近は試行錯誤しながらドラムとの一体感と迫力と「ベースとなる」音がきちんと伝わる事に注意して音を決めます。弦楽器の録音はとにかく録音時に良い音を拾っておかないと仕上がりに大きく影響します。後で加工できるのは本当に必要な音質の調整とエフェクトだけなので、録音には本当に注意が必要です。（どなたかベースギターを綺麗に録音する「コツ」を教えて下さい）そしてやっとギターです。 ギターはやっぱりマイクを使って録音しましょう。小さなアンプでも小さな音量でも良いのです。 気に入った音が出るようにセッティングしたアンプの前にマイクを立ててちょっとだけ録音してみます。マイクの本数、タイプ（ダイナミックまたはコンデンサ）、マイクを立てる位置や角度で、録音できる音がものすごく変わってきます。この場合高価なマイクが良いとは限らない事にも最近気付きました。癖を持っている安いマイクがギターを録った時に凄く良い音になる事も多々あります。高級品ではなくてもマイクプリアンプがあれば音決めが「それっぽく」決まりやすいです。 また、ノイズが気になる時は、ノイズゲートとコンプレッサーが一体になったエフェクターをインサートしておくと便利です。この行程では何度も試す事が重要ですが、時々客観的に捉えるよう心掛けないときりが無くなってしまって、「どれも良い」または「どれも悪い」と感じてしまいます。このような時にはビールを飲んで寝ましょう。・・・・・で、時間をおいて再びチャレンジです。（ギターを録音する前にこんな音で録りたいという音をイメージしておく事が重要です。）で、10トラック目にギター（ステレオの場合は11トラックも使う）の録音が完了します。バッキングとソロを分けて録音する場合は同じ要領でソロの録音をします。そして仮の歌を録ってコーラス、コーラスの録音が終わってから歌の本番を録ります。音源としては16トラックで十分です。 全部の音を録り終えたら、ミックスですが、この際にミキサーのエフェクトループで空間系のエフェクトをかけます。全体のバランスをとりながらミックスのレベルを設定しますが、この時に「買ってきたCDみたいな迫力がでない」という事が多々あります。この時に使うのがファイナライザというマスタリング用のエフェクターです。 生で録音した音には音楽ソースとして不要な音も含まれており、その不要な音情報も電気的には「情報量」としてとらえられてしまい、音楽としておいしい情報を圧迫してしまう事で、迫力の無い現象が起きてしまうようです。ここまで自分の経験を確認しつつ書いてみましたが、録音するたびに「今回がベスト」と思っていても時間が経つともっと良いものができるんじゃないかと思ってしまいます。今回、貼った音はとてもシンプルな機材で録った音です。今となっては録音や演奏に不満だらけですが、本人としては感慨のあるテイクなのです。満足しない事が成長に繋がる事を信じつつ・・・。今回貼った音源は様式美的なアルペジオのギターソロが印象的な（自分で言うな！）へヴィーメタルの楽曲です。大きな音で聴いて下さい。（まわりの迷惑にならない程度に。）
I want to introduce my recording equipment and basic method today, and I put my old music. When I got theme while playing the guitar, as for much music, I image the performances of other part. I can sometimes carry out such an activity with a keyboard, but tend to get inspiration by a tone of the keyboard, because I'm not good keyboard player. Because the range (that I can suppress by a hand) has a limit, as for six strings of the guitar, so-called "manual habit" is easy to appear in the difference of the sound. The keyboard has full of variety from the point of view. There is "unique feeling in manual habit" because I dislike exercises, I understand by oneself. A difficult process begins from here. Ritchie Blackmore said same things. I do rough recording to make the arrangement of each musical instrument clear if I can feel like the rough music, or write a sheet of music when I am not so. Then I start work with Drum part. Normally I uses Drum machine which made by ZOOM / RT-323. Because I don't hope to lose Rock feeling, I select "real time recording". Drum machine was setup to make sounds by sequencer signal of the KORG keyboard. After I finished Drum part, I play KORG /TRINITY (or 01WFD) keyboard. Drum and keyboard are play the music at same period by sequencer. I connected Bass Drum to Truck 1 of the mixer. Also connected Snare Drum to Truck 2. Then I uses Truck 3 and 4 for the stereo sound of Cymbals and Tom. Also keybord has 4 outputs. I have to select "output sound" depends on the music for 5 to 8 truck. The above is very boring, and it is necessary work of the perseverance. I play bass guitar and record it to Truck 9. Because I play guitar and bass, I can enjoy to work from this process. Also I can feel final sound from this process step by step. I thought it till now that if I can listen bass sound it's OK. But it was wrong. The sound-making of the bass guitar is not easy, and bass sound give a big influence to the music itself. I do "trial and error" at present to make good sound to the music, and I try to make "a sense of unity" with drum. Also I try to make a attack (power) to the music. Bass is the basic sound on the band. We should record them by good sound, you know. We should not adjust sound color after the recording. (We don't need to adjust sound character if recorded sound was great.) If really needed, we have to adjust sound character after the recording, by the way. (Add effect and/or add equalizer as example.) Anyway, I learned that I should do it very carefully. (Hey someone can advise me critical point to do good job for the bass guitar, please.) Next step is Guitar. I want to record Guitar sound by microphone. Small volume and small amplifier is OK, if created sound are good. (If you can make loud sound, it's more better to keep Rock feeling.) I do setup microphone at front of the amplifier, after I adjust amplifier to make good sound. Then I play guitar for a short time for "test record". Sound of the guitar will be change dramatically when I change position (and angle, type of the microphone, QTY ) of the microphone. We should not think that expensive microphone could be able to pick-up good sound. Cheap microphone has funny character, and sometimes it will catch good sound for the guitar. If you have "mic pre-amp", you will be easy to create professional sound. If my guitar system had noise, I should insert Comp/Gate to the loop of the mixer. I should do "trial and error" may time on this process. But I should check sound of them from an objective point of view. Otherwise, it will be endless. (I will think all of them are good. Or I will think all of them are bad. I have to choice only one good sound as you know.) When I fall in the chaos, I should drink beer and go to bed. After that, I should do it again, then. ( I should have image of the sound before I do it.) I use Track 10 (or 10 and 11 for stereo sound) for the guitar. If I play backing guitar and solo guitar separately, I have to do same thing again for additional truck. After that I will try to record for temporary vocal. This is preparation to record voice chorus. Then I try to record chorus part. After that, vocal will be recorded. Normally, I use around 16 truck as total and it's enough. After I finished to record all of the part, I have to do mix-down (truck-down). I use effect loop of the Mixer to add ambient effects. I do check total balance and I adjust sound level. Sometimes I feel that there is no attack something like purchased CD. I use effector of mastering which called finalizer, when I felt poor sound. A meaningless sound is included in a music source. The meaningless sound has value from electrical view point, and these meaningless sound compressed to true music source. We feel no-attack sound by this reason. I wrote this until now, based on my experience. I always feel that latest recorded music are the best. but after several days I feel I can do more excellent job more than it. I put music this time which I composed (and recorded) several years ago. I used very simple equipments at that time. I have frustration to the recording and playing to the music because it's old. But it is a record with the deep emotion for me. Discontent is probably vitality to the next step, that I believe. Attached music is a heavy metal song which includes first classical arpeggio. Because I couldn't find singer, I tried to sing a song. Did you find my talent as vocalist? (Sorry.) I know that my vocal isn't good. I tried to play guitar for vocal part too. But it was funny, because I didn't compose this song for instrumental music. I sang the song by this reason.I played solo at the end of the music with Fender Reissue '57 Vintage Stratocaster which equipped pick-up of '72 Stratocaster. I used 50W Marshall head (1975 Vintage), and 1960 cabinet. And I used stomp-box called KATANA (Clean Boost) by Keeley. Then, I recorded the guitar sound by SURE SM-57 microphone. The sound of drum isn't drum-machine at this time. I like sound of real drum. TEZ played drums for this music. It's cool! And I played KORG keyboard and bass guitar. The title of the song is [Handle With Love]. The message of the music : We can touch to anywhere of the world at present. (by technology.) There is many communication without personal information. It's easy to give damage someone without face. Word could be able to kill someone. Therefore we need to "handle with love" now.
